Short Summary: The Wrong Emergency Room Sixteen-year-old Daniel Mercer is driving home from his job at a bookshop during a terrible storm. The road is dark, wet, and difficult to see. Daniel lives with Caroline, the woman who adopted and raised him. He knows very little about his birth family, but he is happy with the life he has.
While driving, Daniel receives a message from his mother telling him to be careful. As he reaches for his phone, a young man suddenly appears in the middle of the road. The stranger is wearing a hospital gown covered in blood. Daniel turns the steering wheel to avoid hitting him. His car loses control, crashes into a guardrail, and rolls into a ditch.
Daniel is hurt but remains awake for a short time. The stranger walks toward the broken car and looks through the windshield. Daniel is shocked because the young man looks almost exactly like him. The stranger has the same eyes and facial features, but he is thinner and has a scar above one eyebrow.
The stranger warns Daniel by saying, "Not safe." Soon, an ambulance arrives. The stranger runs into the forest. One of the paramedics calls Daniel by the name Elias. Daniel tries to explain that his real name is Daniel, but an oxygen mask stops him from speaking. The ambulance takes him to a place called Blackwood Emergency.
Daniel has never heard of this hospital. Before losing consciousness, he hears someone say not to contact his family. When Daniel wakes up, the nurses insist that he is Elias Vale, a patient who survived a murder attempt. His belongings are missing, and his medical records have been changed. Daniel later discovers that the stranger may be his unknown brother.
Their past is connected to false adoption records, secret experiments, murder, and a hidden children's ward. Daniel's accident was planned, and the wrong hospital may be the most dangerous place he could have entered. THE END
