The State of Housing Design 2027 collects works on recently built housing projects notable for addressing issues of affordability, social cohesion, sustainability, aesthetics, density, and urbanism.
Through critical essays, drawings and diagrams of featured buildings, data visualizations, and a crowdsourced survey, it provides both designers and the general public with a contemporary snapshot of the forces at play in the design of housing nationally.
This is the second edition in the State of Housing Design book series, the first of which was published in 2023 by the Harvard Joint Center for Housing Studies, a research center that has produced analysis of housing markets and policy for over 60 years.
