Opening your find
After a twenty-five year prison stint, all Paul Burns wants is to return to his hometown on the Oregon Coast and build a quiet life. When he lands a job at the McCall Book Nook, a ramshackle bookshop ran by eccentric septuagenarian, he thinks it's his second chance.
That's when Paul happens upon a popular self-help title on the shelves and he's shocked to find the author is his estranged daughter, Kathryn. He's even more shocked to learn that Kathryn has been telling her fans that Paul is dead, along with a myriad of other lies.
Desperate to right his wrongs, Paul reaches out to make amends. But when self-help maven Lois Hamm intervenes, suddenly there's a lucrative business opportunity on the table. Lois wants to film a docuseries that could help Paul repair his relationship and launch Kathryn into the stratosphere. But infamy could cost Paul his normal life.
And if her lies become exposed, Kathryn could destroy the career she's painstakingly built.
The pair come to a truce. Paul will help Kathryn keep up the ruse on camera, playing public villain, if Kathryn comes to the Book Nook to spend five mornings with her long-estranged father. But what starts as a strange new book club behind the scenes, soon becomes the father and daughter's only path to forgiveness and redemption.
