Opening your find
I've spent my whole career walking into the places everyone else already gave up on. Corvath Station is the latest one — two years old, barely holding together, running almost entirely on the stubborn competence of a security coordinator who doesn't need another outsider's promises. Ren Ithvek doesn't trust me. I don't blame him.
I've watched enough "peacebuilding" collapse to understand exactly why. What I didn't expect was to find, underneath his exhausted, guarded competence, someone who's been carrying this entire station alone for two years, waiting for someone who'd actually listen instead of lecture. What I really didn't expect was to fall for him while doing it.
His people didn't choose violence. They chose patience, for two long years, while the Alliance forgot they existed. Now we've found out exactly who's been profiting from that patience — and it isn't some extremist faction with a grudge.
It's something colder, quieter, and considerably harder to fight: an institution that learned to make money off a wound nobody ever bothered to close. I came here to prove peace could be built somewhere the Alliance had almost written off. I didn't expect it to also mean building a home.
